Anxious People

“Anxious People” plays with the irony of everyday hustle: rhythmic and lively, it stages inner chaos with a light touch. Through a driving melody, it turns insecurities into an invitation to take oneself less seriously, dancing atop the little worries.

Behind the video and the song

The song takes its name from the book “Anxious People” by Fredrik Backman. It all started as a creative prompt: pick a book title from my personal library and write a song around it.
This video was filmed between the Peace Monument in Cerje, the Nova Gorica train station, and a few scenes at my home. To have the station all to myself and avoid people walking through the shots, I set my alarm for 4:45 a.m. and started filming at 5:45. Urgh! Cerje wasn’t much kinder. We caught the first light of dawn. And for Dean, driving all the way from Trieste, it meant an even earlier start. The playful map scenes are my way of showing how many of us go through life without really knowing where we’re going next, even if we like to think we do.
Fun fact, this is actually the fourth official music video we made for Anxious People, not counting the lyric video (!!!). I filmed the first two versions by myself in Budapest, then a third at Lake Balaton, but something always didn’t feel right, so just a few days before release, we made the scary decision to start all over again. Looking back, I’m really glad we did. Hope it makes you smile.
A couple of extra fun facts: the “magic wand” was actually one of my drumsticks.
And the magazine I’m flipping through? My hairdresser gave it to me the day before, when I decided to dye my hair this funny, super-vibrant colour specifically for this video! I was about to throw the magazine away, but it somehow earned a starring role instead. And yes… now I’ll be rocking this hair colour for the next few months 😄 and actually, I like it!

We matter.
